Update on proposal for Black-Owned NFL Expansion Team in Oakland

An investment group in Oakland is currently working on bringing the first majority Black-owned NFL franchise in Oakland, California. AASEG (African American Sports & Entertainment Group) was founded in 2020 by Ray Bobbitt to create a successful sports and entertainment, educational, and business district at the current Coliseum site in East Oakland. The initiative strives to redevelop the Coliseum site and enhance economic equity for the community. Members of AASEG, include Robert C. Bobb, President and Owner of The Robert Bobb Group, and former City Manager of Oakland, CA.

AASEG is currently in negotiations with the Oakland Athletics to acquire its 50% interest in the

Oakland Coliseum site.
